City council and city staff members who took Highway 36 to Jefferson City the night before Great Northwest Days encountered evidence of slick conditions along the way--cars off the road and a layer of snow in the passing lane. We arrived about 15 minutes later than our usual ETA but St. Joseph travelers on I-70 were caught for several hours in a traffic jam.
Frigid temperatures hovered around 17 degrees the next morning. Nevertheless, we folks from northwest Missouri walked to the capitol to view the House in session and then walked back to the hotel for a luncheon. Some didn't wear coats. (Bruce and Kent, you know who you are).
The luncheon speaker, who was from the Missouri Department of Tourism, discussed how the marketing theme "Missouri: Enjoy the Show" is being expanded to "Missouri: It's Your Show." She explained that the department gives real vacationers a camera and a road trip then makes a video of their experiences.
Well, I had a camera and we were on a road trip of sorts so....Great Northwest Day: "It's Our Show."
